How to train your dragon

Posted on April 4, 2010 at 2:58 am

We were wandering around the mall with the kids Saturday and walked by to check if any movies were starting soon. The latest offering from DreamWorks Animation was about to start and it was one we were interested in checking out.

I am typically quite cynical about movies and my usual discussions with Cynthia as we leave the theater usually goes something like

I would have to say that it was better than ‘Movie A’ but not quite as good as ‘Movie B.’

In this case, I was quite surprised. I went in expecting the standard ‘Animated Family Movie in 3D’ that have been churning out lately, but saw the best movie I have seen in quite a while.

It is very rare that I would be willing to turn around after a show and walk right back in line to see it again, but I was definitely tempted on this one.

If you have not yet seen How to Train Your Dragon, I would highly recommend trying to fit it in soon.

Minnetonka Kids’ Fest

We were lucky enough to participate in this event on Sunday, Feb 14 at the Minnetonka Community Center. Denna and Corwin created unique Fantasy masks, waited in line for the popular facepainting, and participated with great enthusiasm in a creative dance moves class. Hearts were warmed at this midwinter gathering as dancing spirits danced with the guidance of a rhythmic leader. The magician dazzled, the reptiles enthralled, and the storytellers took us there and back again. Though we didn’t make it for the dogsled rides or the bonfire, I think we got alot out of the free event.
This is an event i look forward to attending again.

Geocaching with the scouts

Saturday, we all went out with the Cub Scout pack and spent a few hours doing some entry-level geocaching.   All four of us enjoyed the day.  I look forward to going out for a bit of a longer trek with just us four.  It should really make for a decent family-day activity.

Summer Vacation

Well, only a month left for the kids’ Summer Vacation. Having both of their birthdays occur so close together during the summer does make sure that we always have something to spice up the lazy-days. Hopefully we can slip in some more fun before they go back to the grind.
