Ballet and Apples

Another activity-filled weekend with the family.

When we went to the St. Paul Arts Crawl the other day, there was a woman handing out flyers for the opening of a new season of Ballet Minnesota to be celebrated with a free ballet. We definitely had to see it and called for tickets to the Saturday afternoon show.

The show was Beethoven’s 9th at the Fitzgerald Theater. All of us really enjoyed it. For Denna and Corwin’s first time sitting through such a presentation they did a great job. Was wonderful to see them tapping their feet to the music while rapt in the visual display.

On Sunday, we decided to go out for some Halloween pumpkins. After a bit of web searching, we found Minnetonka Orchards. Was a short trip and perfect weather. The kids picked out four pumpkins, one for each of us. Unfortunately, at $4 each for entry, 43 cents a pound for pumpkins, and $25 for a bag of u-pick apples it added up to a notable price. We then spent the rest of the afternoon picking apples, pressing cider, hayrides, and a small children’s play area. Now just to find a night this week to carve our pumpkins and make some pie… I was thinking about using a recipe from My Home Cooking’s Apple Pie Site.

I have drawn (and painted) on the walls before, but not exactly to this scale.

Site up and running

Well, it took long enough. But we finally have a blog site up and running. I changed the main domain to redirect over to the blog page and we should be set to go.

Of course, cajoling each other into producing content on a regular basis is the task at hand now.

Taking a leap

I met many interesting people during our days at the California building and the St. Paul Art Crawl. I learned a lot about the daily experience of being a working artist. I hope someday to be one of them. My most recent experiments with color, having been strictly pen and pencil, have opened a new way for me. I feel a new depth with color and am looking forward to all the beauty that will reveal itself to me. My aliens, as my husband has named them, have never looked better and seeing everything through colored glasses is fun. P.S. I must also give credit to my family and their unique contributions to a beautiful way of life.
